日本列島が外敵から身を守るように、覆い囲むようにしてできたのが瀬戸内海であり、
その中央に位置する伊予の国は大陸からの触手が伸びることもなく、過保護なまでに手厚く守られてきた。
台風など自然の脅威も四国山脈でさえぎられ、風雪におかされることなく、
温暖な風土のなかで伊予人の気質は形成されてきたようである。
県外人からは、とりわけぬるま湯につかってきたと揶揄される伊予人ではあるが、
さりとて安閑として日々を過ごしたわけではない。
長い歴史のなかで、伊予は常に中央から支配されてきた地域であり、
様々な苦労や葛藤に悩みながらも体制に準じてきたのである。
中央からみた伊予はどのように映ったであろうか。
伊予からみた中央とともに各々の時代を振り返ってみようと筆を執った次第である。

中央からは目立たない伊予の地から、この国の歴史を眺望するとどう見えるだろうか、そんな思いで来し方を振り返ってみました。
